2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS LS9 Drag Race by Lingenfelter

by Alex

It was the Camaro SS LS9 package from Lingenfelter with the power of a mighty 1234 ponies on tap that blew the mind out of people when the car was first unveiled last year. Now they are coming out with another upgrade that would be seen at the 2011 Camaro5Fest, and this is expected to make the car a higher performance object.

The engine would be a 427 CID LSX engine and the package would also include a modified Pedders / Lingenfelter drag race shock absorber set, a Lingenfelter CNC ported GM LS3 six bolt cylinder head, a strain gauged shifter, an LPE (LNC-TC1) 2-step with shift torque cut and a face plated TR6060 Trans by RPM Transmissions. The individual elements that make up the package have been tested out at the Dyno. They have also carried out the WOT 3-4 shift with both stages of nitrous, tuning both the initiation and duration of the torque cut on the upgrade package. The mode adopted for the Dyno test was the vehicle simulation one producing over 1200 rwhp at 7200 rpm.

“Our Camaro holds the distinction of being the first full weight 5th Gen Camaro SS to go into the 8s in the quarter-mile – boasting an 8.997 second run at 158.8 mph last November,” said Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. “Since then, the Camaro has been modified with a drag race suspension package that we developed in conjunction with Pedders featuring a new RPM built face plated transmission and an LPE torque cut module. Our team is looking forward to putting the supercharged Camaro to the test at Firebird.”
