2011 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: Audi e-tron Urban Concept – Video Teaser

by Sebastian Bivin

Yesterday Audi released some sketches of its new Audi Urban Concept, a pretty interesting vehicle today that doesn’t really fit under any conventional categories. Well, now the brand published a new teaser, but this time is a video!

As expected, the video show very few details, so the grand finale remain a surprise. Known as the Audi urban concept, the 1+1 seater is an ultra-light vehicle being studied for congested urban areas. This car combines elements of a racing car, a fun car and an urban car into one radical new concept.

With a dynamic and emotional exterior look and a interior designed to accommodate two people, again with everything from controls to materials obeying the principles of light-weight construction, Audi Urban Concept will be a truly unique vehicle. The two seats are slightly staggered, while the driver can adjust the steering wheel and the pedals. A sliding canopy that forms part of the body opens up to allow the driver and one passenger to enter the car. The cockpit consists of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, which integrates the undercarriage of both seats. The Audi urban concept rolls on wheels with a 21-inch diameter and is powered by two e-tron electric motors that draw energy from a lithium-ion battery.

More details on the Urban Concept are to be released closer to the Frankfurt Motor Show.
