The three-door prototype of Land Rover’s Compact LRX was caught doing test laps in England. While the photos were well-focused, the camouflage was pretty successful in hiding much of the vehicles design lines along the body panels. What can be seen, though, is that the LRX will be a husky, though crouched compact SUV.
The vehicle belongs to the C-segment and is Land Rover’s first hand in front-wheel architecture. This is offered in a two-wheel-drive variant featuring an impressive CO2 rating of 130g/km. While it’s not a Class A green car, it’s still better than the 140g/km produced by its 4WD variant.
Of course, the car manufacturer will still sell a four-wheel-drive version of the LRX. It will be powered by a 2.2-L engine produced by the PSA Group which can generate 185 bhp.
The LRX is slated to debut this September during the Paris Motor Show. Its official name is yet to be announced. The sales date was also confirmed to be in 2011, and the price tag in the UK starts at £35,000 for the all-wheel-drive and £30,000 for the front-wheel-drive.
