2012 Audi A3 – First Look

by Site Default

Audi decided to revive the A3 series with a new model. This one will be released next month at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It should be noted that the A3 is Audi’s counterpart to other compact cars like the BMW 1 Series or the Mercedes-Benz A Class.

The exterior design of the new A3 looks a lot like the new A6, but it is also influenced by the A3 sedan concept that was revealed last year in Shanghai. The headlights though look like the ones of the A4 facelift, and the trapezoidal grill reminds of Audi’s flagship, the A8. The rear lights look exactly like the Avant A6. In other words, the A3 is a combination of multiple successful Audis.

The interior gets an ergonomic feel, and the new generation MMI command system fitted on the infotainment.

The A3 will get its power from the MQB platform that the Volkswagen group developed for usage in other compact, small and medium cars like the Volkswagen Passat and Golf.

This car also gets two doors as the previous models, and most likely room for 5 people, with the seats arranged in a 2+3 system.

More information will be released in March, so until then, stay tuned on speedlux.com for full coverage on the Geneva event.
