2014 BMW M3 promises to be lighter & more powerful

by SpeedLux

The BMW M3 is nothing less than a performance icon and now new details are starting to emerge about the next-generation M3.

According to Auto Express, the 2014 BMW M3 will feature an evolutionary design that would incorporate quite a few M styling cues. Notable highlights of the model include a blade front bumper, ventilated front fenders, aerodynamic door mirrors, revised side skirts, a trunk-mounted spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.

The model will come with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that will be able to generate approximately 450 hp (335 kW) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft) of torque. The engine would be mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The car would be able to accelerate to 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds and will come with an electronically-limited top speed of 250 kmph (155 mph).

The model is expected to make extensive use of carbon fiber which will reduce the weight of the model by 100 kg (220 lbs) from its predecessor. The carbon fiber is expected to be used for the sedan’s roof, hood and trunk.

The 2014 BMW M3 is slated to go on sale in the coming summer in 2014 and pricing is expected to jump by around £3,000 (approx €3,500 / $4,525).
