2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S 0-280 km/h test

by SpeedLux

Expected to go on sale in September, Sport Auto’s Christian Gebhardt recently had the opportunity to test a 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

He drove a pre-production model and that is the reason why the sprint of 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) took a bit more than the official 3.1 seconds. Porsche says that the 911 Turbo S is capable of reaching a top speed of 197.6 mph (318 kmph) on account of a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine capable of generating 560 HP (412 kW) sending power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK.

The Turbo S model comes as standard with features such as full LED headlights with four-point DRLs and camera-based main beam control which is optionally available for the lesser Turbo variant. Both versions are equipped with a four-wheel steering system taken from the GT3 model and should be able to lap the Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

In terms of pricing, the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S comes with a base price of 195,256 EUR (VAT and country-specific taxes included) in Germany whereas the regular Turbo model would come with a price tag of 162,055 EUR.
