Audi has recently revealed some new details about the 2015 R8.
Speaking at the recently concluded Los Angeles Auto Show, Audi’s Board Member for Technical Development Ulrich Hackenberg told one of the car magazines that the next-generation R8 will be approximately 110 – 130 lbs (50 – 59 kg) lighter than its predecessor on account of fittings of carbon fiber floorboards and a carbon fiber central tunnel.
Hackenberg declined to give details of engines but previous reports have indicated that the car could come with a 4.2-liter V8 that would generate 450 hp (335 kW) and a 5.2-liter V10 engine with approximately 570 hp (425 kW). The executive also revealed that the R8 and Lamborghini Gallardo successor will each have their own unique driving experience despite sharing a number of similar components.
As per the reports, the 2015 R8 could be introduced early next year as Audi has already confirmed the plans to begin the production in mid-2014. So we can expect more details to be out soon with respect to 2015 Audi R8.
