The American automaker, Chevrolet, is known to be working on a next generation variant of the Malibu vehicle lineups. Yet, there are no official photos from the American company as of yet that depict the model. Nevertheless, the vehicle has actually been spotted recently in the country of China. The good news is that the car was spotted without any camouflage whatsoever.
Judging by the spy photos, the mid-size American sedan seems to be sporting a new design for its front fascia. The car now comes with slender headlamps paired with a large lower front grille. Also, there are now no more fog lamps to be found. Instead, their place has been taken by LED daytime running lights (DRL) strips. Unfortunately, the spy photos seem to miss the rear end of the vehicle as the spy photographer from China could not make it to snap an image of the rear end of the car.
However, as a reminder, the Vice President of Global Design at General Motors pointed out not so long ago that the upcoming Chevrolet Malibu would borrow plenty of styling cues from the company’s Corvette vehicle lineups. In addition to that, the Executive Vice President of Global Development at General Motors also mentioned that the visual styling of the new Malibu would most likely blow onlookers away.
Unfortunately, so far, there is not too much information revealed about the vehicle just yet. Nonetheless, if reports are to be believed, the car should be based on the revised Epsilon II architecture and the engine will be similar to that of the predecessor.
The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu is most likely to greet the visitors to the upcoming New York Auto Show event, which is scheduled for April this year. It is also believed that Chevrolet will be unveiling the vehicle at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show event as well. The car will reportedly ship to dealers starting from fall this year.
