In Western Europe, the new Fiat-middle class was initially viewed only occasionally as the successor to the smaller type 1100, which did not prevent their ascent to the seller. With an ultra-modern, five-bearing 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine, spacious interior and sporty performance, the compact four-door car was so desirable that the daily production rose in the autumn of 1966 to 600 units.
