Alfa Romeo to enter U.S. Market in full strength

by Alex

With the alliance between Fiat and Chrysler going great guns, there is anticipation amongst the Italian styling enthusiasts for the return of the Fiat and Alfa Romeos once more in the US market. However, while Fiat has confirmed the coming of the 500 MINICAR in the US shores by the end of this year itself, the wait is going to be a bit longer for those yearning to get behind the wheels of a brand new Alfa Romeo as Fiat has revealed it would need more time and the earliest the premium brand can be expected is by 2012. This of course does not include the exclusive 8C Competizione supercar.

Even though no specifics are yet available or declared, Sergio Marchionne, Fiat CEO has indicated the Alfa Romeo presence in US would include the full model lineup. They expect to sell about 85,000 cars in the U.S on an annual basis by 2014. Last year the total sales of the brand were 103,000 vehicles only.

The first of the Alfa Romeo would be the Mito hatchback and that is expected to be available in 2013. It would be available in the five door trim version in the US, while the three door trim variant would be meant for the overseas market.

Once the Giulietta has been updated to a five door version it would be in the market by 2014. This car would be made on the Compact platform and post modification would also produce the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brand models.

There are plans for the Giulia, which would be a replacement for the 150 which has an overseas market. This car would be a midsized sedan and wagon and is one of the most crucial models of the Alfa Romeo brand of cars. The car would come in variants of front wheel or all wheel drive and engine option would include the Chrysler’s Pentastar V-6 or a four-cylinder unit with MultiAir technology.

Some more Alfa Romeo’s are also expected that are not already available in the overseas market like the sporty rear-wheel drive convertible, a compact SUV and bigger mid-size SUV.

To quote the article “Once the Giulietta has been updated to a five door version it would be in the market by 2014″…

The Giulietta is a 5 door car!!!! Trust me I know because I own one of the new Giulietta’s. Do proper research before writing articles.
