BMW to provide new version of i3 electric car in 2017

German high-end automaker BMW plans to introduce a new version of its i3 electric car next year with a longer range and revamped design, German weekly Welt am Sonntag reported, pointing out business sources.

BMW will revamp the front and rear of the i3 and gear up the car with a brand-new battery to increase its range considerably beyond the present 300 km maximum, the paper stated, including that the boost would be below 50 percent.

BMW has been torn about whether to speed up advancement of new electric vehicles knowing its pricey early financial investment has just resulted in uninspired sales, with 25,000 i3s delivered in 2015.

To assist enhance sales, BMW has actually currently increased the battery variety of its i3 city car by 50 percent this year.
