BMW said scarcity of steering gears provided by Robert Bosch slowed production of its 1 series, 2 series, 3 series and 4 series BMW models and triggered blockages at its plants in South Africa and China.

“Our provider Bosch is not presently able to provide us with an adequate number of steering equipments for the BMW 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series and 4 Series,” BMW stated.

BMW plants located in Tiexi, China and Rosslyn, South Africa have actually extended or pulled forward planned disturbances to production, BMW stated.

“We are taking advantage of the flexibility of our procedures to reduce economic damage. We anticipate that Bosch, as the responsible supplier, will make up for damages,” BMW stated.

Bosch was not right away available for comment.
