The Charger and Challenger were the first to let loose Dodge’s unbelievably powerful Hellcat motor when they debuted only a couple of years ago. The two were ultimately followed by the still new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, which has taken the same 707-horsepower (527-kilowatt) engine, and is presently the most powerful SUV on the market. However FCA isn’t done presenting the power right now.

Automotive News noted that Chrysler is supposedly dealing with a Hellcat version of its 300 luxury sedan. Thinking that the 300 rides on the same LX platform as the Charger and Challenger. The news even more confirms early reports of a Chrysler 300 Hellcat, which was seen in spy images caught back in May (the above image).

The new Chrysler 300 Hellcat will be presented in 2018, and will be one of the last variations of the existing model prior the undergoing of the sedan through a significant remodeling in 2019. Part of that updgrade will consist of an all-new look, a lighter curb weight, and perhaps the intro of a smaller sized four-cylinder engine.

The Chrysler 300 has been riding on the same platform for more than a decade, and has been provided just one significant upgrade in its 13 years on the road. Last reports recommended that Chrysler would hold back on updating the 300 till 2020, where it would be given an all-new platform and an entirely new design, however as of now, it appears those plans have been ditched.

Together with a performance-oriented version of the 300, the Chrysler brand will update the Pacifica in 2020, will introduce a new mid-size crossover that shares a platform with the Jeep Cherokee, revive the Aspen nameplate for a full-size, three-row crossover in 2021, and most especially, bring the Portal from concept to production with the same electric powertrain.
