Hell is about the freeze over as Allpar is reporting several sources have confirmed SRT will unveil their Hellcat engine at the upcoming North American International Auto Show.
However it still remains unclear if the company will show the engine by itself or in the Challenger Hellcat but some of the sources have stated that it’s absolutely sinister with stupid power.
Speaking of the latter, the SRT-exclusive engine is expected to be a turbo charged 6.2-liter V8 mill that will be able to generate an output in the range of 640 and 700 hp (477 to 522 kW). If these numbers pan out to be as stated, the car will be significantly more powerful as compared to the Challenger SRT8 which comes fitted with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with an output of 470 hp (350 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque.
So if the output is increased, the Challenger Hellcat should be faster than the Challenger SRT8 that accelerates to 0-60 mph (0-96 kmph) in the high 4-second range.
The North American International Auto Show (NASIAS) will begin from January 13th.

It’s a supercharger, not a turbocharger.
