Fernando Alonso takes the championship lead after Interlagos

by Adrian Hayden

Fernando Alonso is currently the driver with the most points in the F1 championship, after he took 3rd place in the Brazilian GP. The winner was Vettel followed by Mark Webber. With this double, Red Bull secured the constructors’ title before the last race which will be in Abu Dhabi in one week. Vettel didn’t let Webber pass even if the Australian driver has more chances to be world champion.

Next week in Abu Dhabi we will witness the best race we’ve seen in many years: Alonso is currently the leader with 246 points, followed by Webber with 238 and Sebastian Vettel with 231 points. In the Brazilian GP, Alonso was followed on 4th place by Hamilton and Button on 5th place.

Niko Rosberg finished on 6th place after being forced to stop in the pit-lane 3 times due to several problems. He was followed by his team mate Michael Schumacher, Nico Hulkenberg and Robert Kubica. The only abandon of the race was Vitantonio Liuzzi who crashed his Force India-Mercedes into a wall.
