Ferrari sold fewer cars last year but made more money

by SpeedLux

Ferrari has sold fewer cars in 2013 as compared to 2012 but what will cheer the company is that they still managed to earn higher revenue of an impressive 2.3 billion EUR in 2013.

Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo had announced in May last year about the firm’s intentions to become a more exclusive brand and a few days later he states that the annual production would be limited to 7,000 units. He kept his promise as Ferrari sold just 6,922 units in 2013, which represents a five percent decrease in comparison to 2012.

However the revenue number would encourage the company as despite delivering fewer cars, Ferrari achieved a five percent increase in revenue last year by posting a record 2.3 billion EUR. If that was not enough, Ferrari’s trading profit (money made before interest, tax and one-time items) also went up by eight percent to 363.5 million EUR.

Ferrari’s latest product which is the 458 Speciale, is an evolution of the Italia, which has already proven to be an instant hit as the company has already received orders that would be enough for one year’s worth of production.
