Ford Recalling Nearly 1.9 Million Cars for More Takata Airbag Problems

Ford is recalling about 1,896,443 automobiles as part of a broadened Takata recall to change malfunctioning passenger-side frontal airbag inflators.

Impacted models consist of the 2005– 2011 Mustang; 2006– 2011 Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln MKZ, and Lincoln Zephyr; 2007– 2010 Edge and Lincoln MKX; and the 2007– 2011 Ranger. The 608,717 Mustang designs in this recall were formerly recalled to change the motorist’s-side air bag inflator. Additional Mustang and Ranger models were also previously recalled. In overall, Ford has remembered 2.8 million cars in the United States for the shrapnel-shooting air bags.

Ford’s recall follows recent Takata recall growths by Ferrari, Fiat-Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota, and Subaru. Parts accessibility is limited. Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln owners can search their VIN now to discover out if their cars are impacted.
