Ford Motor is going to recall 5,798 cars of its 2 luxury models in China because of malfunctioning airbags, authorities stated. The recall, beginning on June 30, includes imported 2016-2017 Lincoln MKX and Lincoln Continental designs, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine stated on its website.

Due to an issue with the air bag producer, the motorist- side front airbags may cannot totally fill during airbag implementation, and air bag cushions may separate from the airbag modules, increasing the danger of injury for motorists, the quality watchdog said.

Of the impacted vehicles, 393 are Lincoln Continental cars developed between June 24 and December 5, 2016, where as 5,405 were Lincoln MKX automobiles made from January 14 and October 26, 2016, the statement said.

Ford (China) advised owners of the vehicles to call dealers as quickly as the recall starts. The company stated it would replace the faulty airbags free of charge, state-run Xinhua news agency noted.
