General Motors remains most valuable American car company, Tesla surpasses Ford

Market capitalization of Tesla Inc passed that of Ford Motor on Monday, still trails General Motors as the most valuable U.S. car company in mid-day trade on Tuesday.

Tesla traded at $301.74 at mid-day and had a market capitalization of $49.1 billion, as per Thomson Reuters, compared with $51.1 billion for General Motors.

Tesla on Monday stated it provided a record 25,000 electrical vehicles in the first quarter. It prepares to start production this summer of the mass-market Model 3 sedan.
