Google will make driving safer!

by Adrian Hayden

Over the weekend Google have announced that they have been secretly developing a technology that will allow cars to be driven without the help of a human being. They’ve said that the test cars have already done a total of 140.000 miles without needing someone to drive them.

Google have said that their fleet of prototypes have only one purpose: ‘to make the world  safer driving place for everyone in traffic’. They say that the autonomous cars will also improve fuel consumption. The cars have been tested in many places from the Pacific Coast highway to the middle of New York. The cars can theoretically drive on every road in the world because of their detailed maps, radar sensors, radio range finders and video cameras. All these things help the car drive around safer than a human being. It is said that every year 1,2 mil people are killed in traffic accidents but Google believes that this technology will reduce victims to half of that.

Google still needs a lot more time to develop this idea but we are eagerly waiting for this system to be implemented on road cars!
