Holden Colorado 7 launched – 2012 AIMS

Holden”s Tough roader, The Colorado 7 makes its official debut at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, today. Holden will show its new series 4X4 more than 2 months ahead of its official sale date in December 2012.

The Colorado 7 flaunts off the same torque diesel performance and an impressive off road capabilities as its sibling with a large cargo space, full sized 7-seat interior, the strong, muscular 4X4 styling and a chassis configuration designed specifically for the SUV. The all new Colorado 7 will be available in two specifications, the well-equipped entry level LT and top-spec LTZ.

The all new Colorado 7, will be available with the srtong 2.8-litre diesel engine with 6-speed automatic transmission standard on both LT and LTZ models, the Duramax diesel engine achieves 132 kW power and 470 Nm of torque. The Colorado 7’s chassis has been engineered independently which now focuse’s much towards passenger’s comfort, both models share an independent Suspension kit, Colorado 7 features a five-link live axle rear suspension configuration. And the off-road capabilities is provided by a part time four-wheel drive system with transfer case, with low and high ratio gears, shift on the fly and Limited Slip Differential, along with the Hill descent Control facility. The interior is very spacious, with 7 seats fitted across the range. and when the second and third row seats folded, Colorado 7 can accommodate as much as 1830 litres of cargo.

Engine-
The all new Colorado 7, features a Duramax in-line four-cylinder 2.8-litre diesel engine which was first seen in the Colorado LCV range, which helps in delivering a peak torque of 470 Nm and 132 kW of power. This Diesel engine returns 9.4 litres per 100 kilometres and 252 grams of CO2 per kilometre. And as mentioned earlier, both the models have different and individaul set of front double wishbones and independent five-link rear suspension configuration with coil springs at all four wheels. This Colorado 7 has an amazing towing capacity of 3,000kg.

Exterior-

The all new Holden’s Colorado 7 offers a choice of 6 exterior colours which are as follows:

1. Summit White – solid white
2. Carbon Flash – metallic black
3. Royal Grey – metallic grey
4. Nitrate – classic silver metallic
5. Blue Mountain – metallic light blue
6. Sizzle – bright metallic red

Quoting Holden Executive Director Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, John Elsworth, he said the Colorado 7 was the first of two new SUVs, Holden will introduce in the next 12 months. “Colorado 7 is the first true heavy duty off-roader to wear a Holden badge in around 10 years and matches the Colorado for genuine buyer appeal, bold design and advanced diesel engine technology.

“Colorado 7 is a true seven-seat, full-size 4X4, which is ideal for customers shopping for an SUV that can take them off the beaten track and still carry the family and haul cargo at the weekend.” “And with gutsy performance from our proven Duramax 2.8 diesel engine, Colorado 7 is set to become the toughest Holden off-roader we’ve sold to date.”

Safety features-
The all new Colorado 7 in terms of safety is much ahead of its competitor, with the muscle being awarded, a five star ANCAP(Australasian New Car Assessment Program) safety rating its all because of the comprehensive range of high-technology used in this vehicle. It features front driver and passenger airbags and curtain airbags, as a standard features, which is now extended to the third row seats, and rear parking sensors. The body has a benefit from the high strength steel, from which it has been developed, and an advance chasis systems which provides accident avoidance capabilities.

Standard features Include:
Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Three-point seatbelts across all seven seats, Security alarm, Front airbags for driver and passenger, Front seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, Three rear seat child anchor points.

Now Standard Features on the “LT Trim” Includes:
Reversing camera, Rear Park Assist, 16-inch alloy wheels, Body coloured front and rear bumpers, Body coloured door handles, Body coloured mirrors with side turn signal, Side steps, Front fog lights, Front and rear mudflaps, Aluminium roof rails. And Inside the Coloardo 7, LT trim you will get to see :
Leather wrap steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and auxiliary, Six-speaker audio system, Woven cloth seat trim, Multifunction steering wheel controls, Power windows with cloth trim door inserts and metallic spear mouldings, Roof mounted rear air-conditioning controls with second and third row air vents, 60/40 tumble fold removable second row seats, 50/50 folding third row seats, Third row armrest storage, Rear auxiliary power outlet and coat hooks.

And Standard Features on the “LTZ trim” includes:
18-inch alloy wheels, Projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, Front fog lights with chrome surround, Chrome side window moldings, Body coloured door handles with chrome strip, Chrome power folding side mirrors with side turn signal, Roomy interior designed with seven seats and clever storage. Whereas, inside the Colorado 7, LTZ trim offers:
Leather seat trim, Six-way electric adjustable driver’s seat, Eight-speaker audio system with amplifier, Single zone climate control, Chrome interior door handles, Gloss Piano Grey, centre stack mouldings, Chrome gear shifter.
