Honda readying compact roadster for a year 2014 launch

by Alex

As a successor to the models like the Beat and the S800, Honda is coming up with a two-seater compact roadster. Rumors that did the rounds had stated that this car would be an open top version of the hybrid CR-Z model. But now it has been confirmed that this rumor holds no water as the model is coming up on a completely new platform. What is also known is that the new car would feature a mid engine configuration and a rear wheel drive system and all this at a very competitive price.

The previous version of the car that was produced between May 1991 and up to February 1996 was available in the markets of Japan alone. It enjoyed tax relief and discounts in this market. The new model however is going to have a global availability.

Expected date for launch of the new car both in Europe and America is the end of 2014 and it would come with a much bigger engine than the previous one which had a 656 cc engine capable of a maximum of 63 hp output since this time around it won’t just be limited to the domestic market alone and will have an international availability.
