Jaguar Prepares XJR RRV for Bloodhound SSC

by SpeedLux

Whatever Jaguar does always creates news and has to make headlines. It is necessary that we establish Jaguar as a good car and a car that can make headlines. Thus, this is the new headline which is making big news these days.

Land speed records are pretty much an exclusively British endeavor at this point, so it makes perfect sense that Jaguar would lend its support to the Bloodhound SSC project. It’s a pairing as British as bangers and mash.

In honor of the partnership, Jaguar is introducing the new XJR Rapid Response Vehicle alongside three newly face-lifted XJRs at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The XJR RRV joins the F-Type RRV \on the 2014 Bloodhound SSC’s mission to break the 1,000 mph barrier, and will be piloted up the Goodwood hill by Royal Air Force ace and Bloodhound SSC driver Andy Green.

The exclusive Horsepower

With a 550-horsepower supercharged V-8, it’s a bit down on power compared with the 135,000-horsepower Bloodhound SSC , but the Jaguar XJ R does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 174 mph, which should come in handy when transporting the equipment and personnel necessary for a 1,000-mph land-speed record run. Built by Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations, the two XKR RRVs have had roll cages fitted and the rear seats have been replaced by custom housings for emergency equipment.

The Avalon has been a quiet stalwart of the Toyota lineup, providing a plush ride for those not interesting in owning a luxury brand (i.e. Lexus ), but want all the bells and whistles normally associated with one. Equipped in the Limited trim, the Avalon offers just as many luxuries as say, the Lexus ES or even GS sedans, but without the hubbub. Add to that a fantastic hybrid system, and the result is a surprising package that affirms its halo role in the Toyota lineup.

Adventure car

In fact, the car was taken on an eight-hour adventure to my hometown for my 10-year high school reunion. The Avalon might not garner the same attention as the Lexus RC F from late 20-somethings, but I didn’t go with the mindset of impressing.

There was a journey made from central Florida north to I-10, then due west to the sleepy little town of Pascagoula, Mississippi. Save for a few high-profile tobacco attorneys, many of the town’s 22,000 residents are blue-collar, with folks working in the fishing, shipbuilding, or oil industries. Still, Southern charm runs deep here, with wrap-around porches on antebellum homes, sprawling live oak trees covered in Spanish moss, and thick, twangy drawls coming from gents and belles alike.

In other words, it was the perfect place for such a subtle luxury car to fit in.

Thus, believe in this car and it will benefit you to the greatest extent. It is a great car and one is sure the Bloodhound is sure to give you a treat. It is a great car and the cars that are made are well furnished and people will admire the car for the way it is.
