Kia GT V-8 Supercar Concept: Leaked Photos

by Will Parker

While we already knew that Kia was bringing two Kia V-8, rear-wheel-drive concepts to the Frankfurt Auto Show, the first of these has leaked ahead of its official debut, next week. The 2012 Detroit Auto Show will be the host for another rear-drive V-8 concept.

It’s clear that Kia has evolved, going to a new level. The new rear-wheel-drive sedan will be called the GT, meaning that the Veredus name the company trademarked awaits another vehicle. Based on the license plate, the front fascia comes with large, vertical air intakes flanking the grille.

Although the official specs are as yet unknown, we still can guess at a few of the key details. Probably the V-8 under the sheet metals will be, at least in concept form, the 5.0-liter V-8 found in the Genesis R-Spec, rated at something like 429 horsepower.

This is also our first peek at the Kia GT’s interior, which is obviously pure concept, but could be rationalized into a more production-worthy variant by the time the Detroit show rolls around.

Stay tuned, because we’ll have the full, official details and photos from Frankfurt next week.
