Latest Report States Percentage of Licensed Drivers Declining

A brand-new report coming from the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute states that the portion of certified drivers is decreasing throughout any age groups. The report includes information from the Federal Highway Management for 1983, 2008, 2011, as well as 2014.

The percentage of certified vehicle drivers in the 16- to 44-year-old age has been declining longer compared to the group that consists of motorists over the age of 45 years of ages, according to the report.

In 1983, 91.8 percent of individuals ages 20-24 years of ages were licensed motorists. By 2008, that number went down to 82.0 percent. Licensed drivers in this age was up to 79.7 percent in 2011 and also 76.7 percent in 2014.

While the percent of licensed drivers has been decreasing for more youthful vehicle drivers since 1983, the percent of qualified vehicle drivers in the 45- with 69-year-old age group increased from 1983 to 2008 followed by a decline from 2008 to 2014. The record reveals that the variety of licensed vehicle drivers in the 60- to 64-year-old age raised from 83.8 percent in 1983 to 95.9 percent in 2008. That number dropped to 92.7 percent in 2011 then once again to 92.1 percent in 2014.

For those 70 years as well as older, the number of licensed motorists enhanced from 55.0 percent in 1983 to 78.4 percent in 2008 and 79.2 percent in 2011. That number reduced a little to 79.0 percent in 2014.
