Liverpool 2017 25 December Christmas accident

A male in his 30s died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a bus stop and a lamppost during a police chase on Christmas morning.

The victim was in the passenger seat of the BMW which was left totally mangled in Liverpool at 4.35 am.

Pieces of the vehicle were left strewn throughout the roadway outside a Salvation Army building in the Old Swan area of the city and somehow the driver made it through.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson stated an investigation was ongoing and that the car crashed after a ‘short police pursuit’.

The collision, according to protocol, has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and the motorist was detailed at the scene.

A cordon remains in place around the location and Prescot Road is presently closed between the junctions of Green Lane and St Oswalds Street to enable an investigation to be performed.

The victim has yet to be determined.
