Mazda to Lauch Limited Edition 2011 Mazda2 Yozora

by Alex

The Mazda2 is yet to be launched in North America. But that hasn’t stopped Mazda from preparing a special edition version of the car – Mazda2 Yozora to be sold exclusively in the Canadian market.

The term ‘Yozora’ in some ways stands for ‘night sky’ and seems to be the right name for the car that is to don a unique shade of black paint. There’s also a special decal package to be availed of that has been prepared specially for this car. The number 2 can be found stamped on the front fender across the driver’s side in a range of exciting colors. The package is inclusive of a unique rear spoiler, a chrome tipped tailpipe along with 16-inch aluminum wheels that come with Toyo high performance rubber.

Mazda has made sure the car conforms to the harsh cold conditions prevalent in Canada and has suitably equipped the Yazora with a set of winter tires mounted on steel wheels. However, trim levels inside the Mazda2 Yozora edition is the same as in the Mazda2 GM, except for special floor mats included in the Mazda2 Yozora.

Among the features that comes standard in the Yazora special edition are air conditioning, heated external mirrors, remote keyless entry, cruise control, along with a much improved sound system. According to the director of marketing and product strategy for Mazda Canada, Mike Collinson, the Mazda2 Yozora is targeted at younger buyers who are looking for ‘individuality and expression.’

The Yozora has all that can make the car an attractive proposition to this group, the primary among which is its ‘captivating design, exceptional value, and fun-to-drive attributes.’ Collinson is also of the opinion that the Yozora has on offer the most sought after accessories and customization all packed in a convenient package. The Yozora has been priced at about $19,280 or $19,200 in American dollars, which excluded destination charges. There will only be 500 units of the Yazora limited edition to be picked up. Choice of transmission includes a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
