McLaren aims to eliminate windshield wipers from cars

by SpeedLux

McLaren Automotive engaged on a wiper-less car that has jet-fighter technology for keeping its windshield clear, the Sunday Times reported.

“The windscreen wiper is an archaic technology,” Frank Stephenson, told the newspaper during the interview affirming that the Surrey was working on an alternative which could start appearing in McLaren models by 2015.

McLaren has made Formula One racers and high-performance sports cars, such as the MP4-12C and the P1, which have a Canadian manufacturer’s known retail prices of $239,400 and $1.19 million.

Stephenson added that he noticed the lack of wipers on some military aircraft, but it “took a lot of effort” to convince a military edition to explain how such aircraft kept their windshields clear.
