Mercedes-Benz E Class Sedan & Station Wagon Receive the ‘AMG’ treatment

by SpeedLux

In the nick of time for the Paris motor show, Daimler-Benz’s devoted performance arm, AMG has been let loose on the most recent generation Mercedes E-Class sedan and station wagon.

The brand-new E 43 4Matic models, which are going to make their real-world debut in Paris on September 28, are defined as merely the first stage of AMG enhancement, and even more effective E 63 versions with V8 engines remain in the pipeline.

However, for those that can’t wait, the E 43 is adept. AMG has actually taken the automobiles’ standard 3-liter V6 and upped the power to 401hp through improvements to the powerplant’s twin turbochargers. And then, the good news is, routed that power and the accompanying 520Nm of torque via a nine-speed automatic transmission to each for wheels for higher control and handling.

“We have substantially broadened our design range for performance-oriented clients with our new 43 designs,” stated Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “The E 43 4Matic includes especially versatile options for company and recreation to this substantial product variety.”

Undoubtedly the station wagon, a kind of vehicle that typically interest people because of its practicality– space for all the household and their baggage, has been developed into a muscle vehicle for soccer mommies. Even with the additional weight and aerodynamic restrictions of a larger trunk, it can go from 0-100km/ h in 4.7 seconds, making it simply 0.1 seconds slower than the more shapely sedan. But that power is being provided with obligation, as Mercedes states, the vehicle can deliver a fuel economy of 8.4 l/100km on the combined European test cycle.

Other improvements over standard designs include retuned sports suspension that can be established for a stiffer or softer trip, depending on who is sitting in the passenger seat, faster shift times from the transmission and a reduced steering ratio. But conscious that with the station wagon in particular that the car is probably going to spend as much time working out carparks as it is hairpin bends, the ratio can be changed for speed and situation.

Then, naturally, there’s the exterior designing. No one who looks upon either E 43 will remain in any doubt of their performance prospective thanks to 19-inch alloy wheels, 3 substantial air consumption in the front apron and the twin refined tailpipes and diffuser at the rear.
