Just a week ago, Mercedes-Benz decided to preview its new vehicle dubbed the F 015 Luxury in Motion. Today, the company has actually shown off the car at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. This is the very first time ever the car bows to the public and it seems like it may end up as the most interesting concept of all those currently being exhibited at the aforementioned event.
As reported before, the luxury German automaker sees its new vehicle as a luxury car that drives itself. And, because there is basically no need to be concerned about driving the car, let alone safety driving, passengers should be able to totally enjoy themselves while being in the cabin. This seems to be the very reason why Mercedes has designed the interior of the car to have the atmosphere of a lounge. In fact, the seats inside the vehicle can even rotate to face one another. In addition to that, there are also six displays available inside the cabin. These displays function as the control centers for the features that the car has in store. The doors open in a similar way of the doors of the Mazda RX-8, only they open up to ninety degrees completely. Due to the use of such doors, no B-pillars can be found anywhere on the vehicle.
The car is also quite capable when it comes to performance. It packs a fuel cell hydrogen plug-in engine layout with a pair of electric motors. Its peak power output hits the figure of 268 bhp and its peak torque hits 294 lb-ft. The car counts on a lithium-ion battery to help it reach a total distance of 200 km before needing a recharge. The car hits 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and its top speed lies at 200 km/h (electronically limited).
