MINI to field a Porsche 911 Carrera S for the race

by Alex

The MINI vs. Porsche duel on the race tracks is yet to be confirmed by Porsche and for once, it did seem to be a single participant race.  However, it seems MINI is hell bent on the race ti take place. MINI boss big Jim McDowell has not relented as yet in the efforts to tell the world about the challenge. First he went for the Rocky IV parody then he tried an online petition and he even went to the extent of flying a private plane carrying a banner over the headquarters of Porsche in Us Atlanta. The place carried a banner regarding the challenge.

After receiving just stoic silence from Porsche on its challenge offer MINI has even thrown the challenge open to present owners of the Porsche. They have asked the owners of Porsche 911 Carrera S to bring along their cars and allow the race between their car and a MINI to take place. The only tangles that face MINI in this latest twist of challenge is the case of who would drive the Porsche and also would there be any legal issue by getting a Porsche to race against a MINI without official consent from Porsche. The way ahead or final outcome of this running battle between the two is very much unpredictable. Especially given the unpredictable ways of MINI which we have had enough to taste in the past. MINI would sure throw in a big surprise given their past records unless Porsche just accepts the challenge, crushes the MINI at the race and bring down the curtains on this drama once and for all.
