News about the new Opel Calibra!

by Adrian Hayden

The new Calibra will be a car that will satisfy anyone. The constructor is planning to offer the car in two versions: the coupe and the cabrio. The GM group will launch the Calibra in 2013 but soon after the launch they will also present the cabrio version. Both of the versions, the coupe and the cabrio will be inspired by the GTC concept that Opel presented at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show.

The GTC concept was turned into the Insignia model (the Buik Regal) so some similarities are awaited. The Calibra will have a big power-plant: a 3.8l turbo engine that will be able to delover 325 BHP.

This engine is the same one fitted on the sport version of the Insignia: the OPC. The future model will be offered with smaller turbochargers so that the car will have a reasonable combination of power and economy. The Calibra will also receive an all wheel-drive system so the engine will transmit the power to the road even better. This will give the Calibra an edge on the BMW 3 Series and Audi A3.
