Next Ford Shelby GT500 spied in camouflage with big wheels

Ford Shelby GT500

Last time when Ford was seen testing the Shelby GT500, it was a GT350R with a concealed nose. And now, the GT500 has dropped the GT350R wing and put on much more camouflage. Tells a lot that Ford is clearly covering something interesting. Even the wheels were covered up. However, Ford didn’t manage to cover the tire sidewalls, and some intriguing details lies there.

Spy photographers were quick to get good shots of the lettering on the tires. Exactly what they expose is that this Shelby is 20-inch wheels in advance with 305-mm tires. Those knowledgeable about the GT350 will know it uses 19-inch wheels, both in standard and GT350R trim. If you see tire sizes for both models, you’ll likewise find that the regular GT350 uses smaller 295-mm tires in advance, and the GT350R has 305-mm tires. We don’t believe this is a simply unique GT350R either, considering that the wing is missing, as is the extra-deep front splitter.

Apart from the tires, there isn’t really a lot more we can determine from the photos. Exactly what we can translucent the camouflage appears to reveal the exact same front and rear bumpers as the present GT350. But there are probably little tweaks to them to put the styling in line with the revitalized 2018 Mustang. When it comes to when the Ford Shelby GT500 will make its debut, we would expect no earlier than the next Detroit Motor Show.
