Next-gen Nissan GT-R to get hybrid tech from Williams

by SpeedLux

One of the latest reports has indicated that the next-gen Nissan GT-R (R36) will feature hybrid technology from Williams Advanced Engineering.

The speculations have started doing rounds since the trademark application for the “R-Hybrid” moniker by the company in late August this year. This clearly shows that Nissan is planning to hybridize its super car. The all-new GT-R is likely to be out in the later part of 2015 and as a 2016 model year model. It should benefit from cylinder deactivation and stop/start systems to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

However till this next-gen model hits the market, in the coming year we will see the launch of the current gen’s Nismo version which will supposedly do 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) sprint in just two seconds which is due to a more powerful engine (rumoured to have power of at least 570 hp) and a smaller curb weight. Nissan is also hoping to lap the Nordschleife in the time of 7 minutes 18 seconds with the R35 GT-R Nismo which is likely to adopt a different body that will include a rear wing.

The Nismo-tuned Nissan GT-R will be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan next month, before going on sale in early 2014.
