Rumor is that the next generation Mazda RX7 is rendered however such speculation is around also since Mazda Cosmo’s 50th anniversary is right around the corner. Speculation further infers that the new RX7 model would be unveiled by 2017. Mazda has been extremely secretive about their plans for the future existence of this model however, Automedia has recently published a rendered version of the anticipated RX7. It is also suggested that a new RX-7 is going to be developed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Mazda in 2020.

Rumors also suggest that the new RX-7 is going to consist of the same chassis architecture as the small MX-5 meaning it will also be a front-engined vehicle featuring rear-wheel drive. The Vice-President of European Research and Development, Kenichiro Saruwatari, did confirm however that Mazda keeps a 30-person staff of engineers whose sole job is to work on rotary engine projects. Saruwatari further went on to suggest that those 30 engineers were currently working on a project for the firm’s 100th birthday.
