NHTSA receives complaint for Tesla Model S unintended acceleration

A Model S owner has sent a complaint to NHTSA concerning unintended acceleration issues which means that there could be some trouble for Tesla Motors coming up.

Recently there have been no cases of the unintended acceleration”, and the last that we could remember was the huge scandal concerning Toyota a couple of years ago. Now, this issue has come up again but this time it is Model S of Tesla Motors and the complaint has gone to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The letter to NHTSA describes the incident about the wife of the car’s owner who was travelling down a short driveway at a speed of around 5 mph while consistently applying the brakes. However at one point, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, hit a curb and then ended up on a 4.5 ft. retaining wall approximately one foot from the curb.

But it seems that the company has another version. One of Tesla Motors’ engineers said that the records showed the Model S accelerated as the accelerator was pressed and in a split second the pressure jumped from 18 percent to 100 percent and so the company engineers are blaming the driver for the incident.

“A Model S owner has sent a complaint to NHTSA concerning unintended acceleration issues which means that there could be some trouble for Tesla Motors coming up.”

Where exactly is the “trouble” for Tesla Motors? This incident will serve as fair warning to anyone trying to fake a Tesla malfunction. The Model S records everything the driver does with the car’s controls, in addition to the car’s response.

This incident, as well as this article, appear to be thinly veiled attempts at stock price manipulation.
