Nissan CEO is not aware of a possible bid for FCA

Nissan Motor CEO Hiroto Saikawa stated on Thursday he has not heard of discussions about the possibility that its French partner Renault SA was thinking about a bid for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).

When inquired by reporters whether he had heard about the discussions, cited in a media report the recently, Saikawa answered: “Not at all”.

The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Renault aims to restart merger talks with Nissan within 1 year, after which it would set its sights on a bid to purchase Fiat Chrysler.

Saikawa also stated that the company would sincerely “consider” recommendations by an external committee on ways to improve Nissan’s governance, after the group declared the findings of its investigation of the company.
