The Megane has always proven to be the most successful vehicle model ever from the French automaker, Renault. Now, the company has launched the latest generation variant of the model, dubbed the GT220. The car will reportedly be available in three variants, which are, Coupe, Hatch and Sport Tourer.
Speaking of this new vehicle model from the French company, it is going to bear a chassis engineered by the Renaultsport division. In addition to that, the car will also be featuring ventilated disc brakes for the front tires, solid disc brakes for the rear tires, Serdard bespoke alloy wheels measuring 18 inches in diagonal and, most interestingly, a progressive servo-assistance system that benefits from a newly developed RS master cylinder.
The exterior of the vehicle also looks attractive, thanks to the newly designed air intake at the center part of the front fascia, a revised front bumper, a redesigned rear bumper with body color paint applied onto its lower section and a new rear diffuser that enhance the aerodynamics of the vehicle.
Power is sent to the front wheels by a turbocharged 2.0L 16V engine. Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the engine is capable of bursting out no less than 220 hp and 340 Nm in terms of power output and torque, respectively. Although it may not be as fast as a dedicated sports car, the next generation Renault Megane GT220 is actually capable of reaching the speed mark of 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds from a completely stationary position. And, for those who do not hesitate to floor the gas pedal of the vehicle, they may as well see the car reaching the speed figure of 240 km/h at its peak performance. According to Renault, the Megane GT220 should prove to be an ideal entry level vehicle when it comes to Megane performance driving.
