Review: 2013 Lotus Evora

by SpeedLux

Though in the racing circles the Lotus brand is a legend, but for mainstream it is just little known. The brand is popular for producing lightweight cars which are simple and fast.

The four-seater Lotus Evora is among the top model in the Lotus lineup and is highly recommended for its impressive fuel economy for unbelievable fast car. It has exotic styling too, but definitely not called as cheap vehicle with a price tag of $66,800.

It competes against Chevrolet Corvette, Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 Carrera, and can be said to look like a $200,000 Ferrari, even though it is priced just one-third of it.

The only drawback seems to me is its limited rear visibility. Well, the hilarious optional rear seat may also not be liked by some segment of buyers.

Lotus Evora comes in two models – base and S. Both are equipped with 18-inch front/19-inch rear wheels and modern entertainment features.

The car is fitted with mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 engine, making 276 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. In just 4.8 seconds it can accelerate zero to 60 miles per hour.

From safety point the body is built of aluminum tub chassis that has inherent strength. The aluminum front subframes and steel rear ones helps in minimizing damage to the tub and gives better passenger protection in a collision. The traction control and ABS used in it are also of industry standard.
