One of the South Korean automakers out there, Ssangyong, has officially introduced a new vehicle concept with a rather boxy design. Bearing the XAV moniker, the car is coming in its concept form at this year’s Seoul Motor Show event.
When it comes to the Ssangyong brand, however, it is quite an unfortunate fact that the company has almost never realized any of its concept cars. The concepts are just, well, concepts. As such, it is really still a big mystery whether the company will actually make its concept car a reality this time. Nonetheless, this does not necessarily mean that people simply have to stop paying attention to the company’s XAV – which stands for eXciting Authentic Vehicle – compact SUV model. After all, the car will still appeal fans of angular and rather boxy visual design.
According to Ssangyong, its latest creation will be equipped with an e-4WD system. This system will see a traditional 1.6L engine mated to lithium-ion batteries as well as an electric motor. Taking that into account, there is a pretty huge chance that this latest concept car from the South Korean automaker will actually boast a superior fuel efficiency as well as a high performance.
If you pay careful attention to the Ssangyong XAV concept, you will figure out that the car is in fact a convertible. It has a retractable canvas roof. The car even has electronic air suspension as well and, if that is not enough, it sits firmly on a set of run-flat tires. Last but not least, a smart control system is also available and this will adjust the characteristics of numerous components of the vehicle, including the suspension, by taking into account the condition of the terrain the car is passing.
