Toyota Tacoma sales more than Chevrolet Colorado, in June

by SpeedLux

Toyota North America has managed to move 15,959 units of the Tacoma while Chevrolet Colorado on the other hand sold just a handful of 6,558 units in June. The Tacoma is by far the game changer when it comes to the mid-size truck segment in the automobile industry. However this comes as a surprise because when you compare the Chevy to its rival Toyota, we realise that the Colorado isn’t that bad after all. To start off with, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado has a 3.6 liter V6 engine while the Tamaco has a 4.0 liter V6 engine. Moreover, the Colorado comes witha six-speed auto- transmission while on the other hand the Tacoma comes with a five-speed auto- transmission. The Colorado turns out to be more superior in power as it is capable of producing 305 of horsepower and a torque of 269 Ib-ft while the latter can produce 236 of horsepower with a torque of 266 Ib-ft. The maximum payload of the Colorado is about 1,590 Ibs while the Tacoma’s maximum payload is about 1,500 Ibs.

From the above comparison of the two cars, it is clearly distinguished that the Colorado does surpass the Tacoma in a number of areas. In comfort, the Colorado also comes in first with a maximum rear legroom of 35.8 inches where as the Tacoma has a close 32.6 inches. As for fuel economy of the two motors, the Colorado again beats the Tacoma as the Colorado’s reported average is about 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. The Tacoma’s fuel economy comes down to an average of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 21 miles per gallon on the highway. Thus the average observed fuel economy comes down to about 20 miles per gallon on the Colorado and 15 miles per gallon on the Tacoma. Last but not the least, the price of the Tacoma is about $30,280 while the Colorado is about $30,580. Even though in almost all its aspects, the Colorado is better off than the Tacoma, the Colorado is shrinking its sales. The only probable cause of such a sales decrease could be the fact that Chevrolet isn’t marketing its products at an optimum level.
