Volkswagen and LG to develop connected cars

German automobile giant Volkswagen stated it is coordinating with South Korea’s LG Electronics in the area of “connected” vehicles.

“The Volkswagen group and LG Electronics have actually signed a memorandum of understanding on joint research and development of a next-generation connected car service platform,” the German group stated in a statement.

Both of the companies would collaborate to develop innovations that enable drivers to control Internet-connected gadgets in their homes– such as lights, security systems and domestic home appliances– from the driving seat.

The system will likewise forward context-sensitive notifications and guidance to the driver.

Volkswagen stated it likewise prepares to incorporate LG innovation into its in-car entertainment systems.
