Volkswagen CEO Matthias Müller Says Cannot Rule Out Further Production Delays

Volkswagen Chief Executive Matthias Müller has stated that he could not dismiss further production delays due to issues with single providers.

Volkswagen has formerly said it is reviewing its provider and procurement technique to prevent another dispute like the one that triggered production slowdowns as well as blockages at 6 plants last month.

“I can never ever rule that out,” Müller informed press reporters in the Austrian city of Linz when asked about the possibility of additional production delays.

Volkswagen providers Car Trim and ES Automobilguss, both part of Bosnia’s Prevent Group, stopped deliveries of seat covers and cast iron parts for gearboxes after Volkswagen cancelled an agreement.

“This was a one-off incident, we generally have an excellent connection with our providers and that’s why I think we have got it under control … We do not have to change (cooperation with our providers),” Müller stated.
