Welcome the New Volkswagen e-Golf – Entry Level!

by SpeedLux

Volkswagen, a German-based automaker, has officially launched a new Golf model. Dubbed the e-Golf, this car will serve the entry level market and it will be a limited production run. VW is planning to sell the car on the US soils with a base price that is lower by some $2,000 when compared to the base price of the previous Golf model.

In case you have yet to know, the SEL Premium base trim had always been the most affordable e-Golf model that money could possibly buy, with a price tag of $35,455. However, now that the German automaker has introduced a new variant, that is no longer true. As a matter of fact, anyone who is interested in the limited edition new e-Golf model only needs to pay $33,450 to bring the car home. For those who prefer monthly leasing, they will only have to pay $229 per month. Of course, there are bound to be some tradeoffs for a cheaper price. The new limited edition e-Golf variant is going to sit on 16-inch steel instead of alloy wheels. Also, unlike the normal edition variant, the new limited edition variant is only going to be treated with halogen and not LED headlamps. Customers won’t be able to enjoy leather seats, either, with this new limited edition e-Golf from Volkswagen.

However, in spite of the lacking of those amenities, the entry level VW e-Golf limited edition model does come with LED daytime running lights, keyless access start with engine start/stop button, dual zone climate control, navigation system, electronic parking brake, automatic wipers and headlamps, Park Distance Control at both the front and rear ends of the car, a rearview camera and also a DC fast charging feature, thanks to which the car can have its battery charged by 80 percent in only thirty minutes.

Under the hood of the car, customers will find an electric motor with a total power output of 85 kW (115 HP) and a torque of 270 Nm. This enables the car to complete 0-100km/h acceleration in 10.4 seconds precisely. Also, as pointed out by the EPA, the car can go as far as 133.5 km before it will require a recharge of its 24.2kWh lithium-ion battery.
