2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 unveiled

by SpeedLux

Mercedes-Benz is coming to the Geneva Motor Show in March with its more powerful version of the C63 AMG. Dubbed as “Edition 507”, the car will be powered by 6.3-liter V8 engine, producing 507 HP (373 kW), an increase of 50 HP (37 kW) compared to the previous model.

This time the torque has also gone up from 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) to 610 Nm (450 lb-ft). The increase is due to the change in inner workings of the AMG engine. The forged pistons of it have been borrowed from the SLS AMG. Moreover, new connecting rods and a lighter crankshaft have been also installed.

With all these changes the sedan and the C63 AMG coupe are capable of reaching the speed of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds, and the estate in 4.3 seconds. The maximum speed of the three is 174 mph (280 km/h).

It has a tougher braking system with front brake discs measuring 360x36mm with six-piston calipers, while at the back it gets four-piston calipers. All brake discs are ventilated and perforated and come with red-painted calipers.

There are several significant changes made in the exterior of it such as aluminum hood now with two openings and 19-inch AMG cross-spoke wheels with 235/35 R 19 front and 255/30 R 19 rear tires. High-gloss black finish has been given to the spoiler lip on the boot lid for both sedan as well as coupe. The radiator grille surrounds and DRLs too have been revamped.

There is no word on pricing and we need to know more on features front, but since the car is headed for Geneva, loads of inputs will be out for grabs at the show.
