As fears of a second wave of coronavirus infections have many people wondering when, or if, life will return to normal, many companies are opting to continue operations to maintain the demand of transport globally. A-1 Auto Transport, Inc. has long been a leader in the automobile transport industry, and the company is currently working to maintain safe operations during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

COVID-19, the novel virus that has spread across the globe like wildfire, has caused widespread concern for safety in both the business and private sectors across the world. While many small businesses have shuttered their doors permanently due to loss of sales, others have had to come up with contingency plans to continue operations through quarantines and business closures on a grand scale.

Tony Taylor, President and founder of A-1 Auto Transport, Inc. stated, “The safety of our customers and our drivers is our top priority during this global crisis.”

Automobile transport has been deemed an essential industry, and this means that transport carriers are expected to continue vehicle shipments nationwide and internationally. This means that for those who may find themselves sheltering in place or facing the need to relocate from school or work to a location in another city or state, auto transport may become a necessity to relocate a vehicle.

Maintaining Safety During Transport

Due to safety concerns and to lower the risk of exposure to COVID-19, A-1 Auto Transport, Inc. is asking customers to work with them on the following:

  • Vehicle Cleanliness

Customers are asked to clean the interior of their vehicle and to remove all personal possessions from inside the car. To help reduce exposure to the virus or other possible contaminants from inside the car, customers are urged to wipe seats, steering wheel and other touchable surfaces with a disinfectant wipe.

  • Pickup and Delivery

When it is time for the vehicle to be picked up or delivered to the customer, it is important to take steps to lower exposure by requiring the driver as well as the customer to wear a face covering and maintain a safe distance from each other. The CDC recommends wearing cloth face covering to help lower the risk of spreading COVID-19.  It is also advisable to wear gloves or have a pen handy to sign paperwork so the customer and driver will not need to share a pen to sign. Keeping hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes on hand is a good idea to keep hands clean and germ free during these uncertain times.

Vehicle owners who have symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home and have a trusted family member or friend who is not ill be on location to release or pickup the vehicle. Symptoms include but are not limited to:

  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Sore Throat
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Body Aches/Muscle Aches
  • Congestion
  • Runny Nose
  • Loss of taste or smell

Prior to beginning work with their transport duties, drivers are screened to ensure they have not been exposed to COVID-19 and to also check their temperature and to be certain they are not displaying any symptoms of COVID-19. Any employee with symptoms of COVID-19 or exposure to the virus will be required to be tested for the virus at a local health department or other medical facility and will be quarantined as required by medical advice.  Employees are also provided masks and gloves and will maintain cleanliness in their workspace.

While this novel virus has made life challenging in recent months, car shipping is still a service that is necessary and should be readily available when needed. When you need auto transport for your vehicle, A-1 Auto Transport, Inc. will not only provide the service you need is committed to doing so in a manner that is safe for the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
