Next-generation Dodge Journey slated for 2016

by SpeedLux

The Dodge Journey has been on the market since as early as 2008 but a latest report is indicating the next-generation model won’t arrive until 2016.

According to sources from Automotive Compass, the 2016 Dodge Journey model will be built in Sterling Heights, Michigan and will ride on the CUSW platform that is underpins the Dodge Dart, Jeep Cherokee and 2015 Chrysler 200.

The main reason for moving production to Michigan is to reduce cost, however it could result in higher prices for the next-generation Fiat Freemont as vehicles exported from the United States are subject to higher fees than those from Mexico.

Very little detail is known about the Journey at this junction, but engines could be shared with the model’s CUSW counterparts.
