Volkswagen, in addition to the upcoming debut of the 2012 Beetle, has announced that the redesigned coupe will also roll-out with two limited-edition models, both of which promise to pack a punch.
The upvoming model is already expected to appear in three different forms: “base”, “design” (mid-level), and “sport” (high-end). and at launch customers will also be able to opt for the Black Turbo and White Turbo special edition models.
Only the high-performance Beetle Sport model benefits of these two limited-editions and the only major differences is pure cosmetic: one comes in black, the other in white. These two two limited-editions comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI engine matched to a DSG dual clutch gearbox. Peak output will stand at 197 horsepower.
The exterior of this model features the special editions include the “Turbo” signature on the sides (above the side sills) and on the color-contrasting mirrors and wheels. On the White Turbo Beetle, the machine polished “Tornado” alloy wheels are in black as are the door mirror housing, while on the Black Turbo Beetle, both of these features are trimmed in white.
On the inside, the dashboard, steering wheel badge and door panels all match the exterior body color.
The Black Turbo model is already available for pre-order on the Volkswagen website for a fully refundable downpayment of $495 against the $24,950 MSRP. According to the site, only 600 units will be available. So far there’s no sign of the White Turbo model, but probably the production figures and prices will be about the same.
