Two people were killed after a car chase and crash in Houston County in Georgia on Friday morning.

Officials tried to make a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee for failure to maintain lane, but it sped off, leading to a brief chase down Russell Parkway around 1 a.m.

The 48-year-old driver identified as Fredrick Faulkner of Warner Robins, lost control and went across all lanes of the road. He then struck a utility pole, causing the Cherokee to overturn.

Faulkner and his passenger, 28-year-old Mercedes Chikas of Byron, were killed in the crash.

Georgia State Patrol investigated the incident.
