BMW to introduce a special M3 Tiger Edition for the Chinese market

by Alex

There are rumors that BMW would be building their M3 Tiger Edition solely for the Chinese market and that they plan to build the car in 2010 itself, it being the year of the tiger in China. They are also in the run for producing a limited run of the Frozen Grey M3 for the US market.

Without any official announcement or confirmation as yet there is only speculation of what the car is to be all about. It has however been assumed that the final outcome would be more of cosmetic changes rather than a complete turnaround effect. There would be close resemblance of the front fascia with that of the M3 GTS. The blacked out kidney grille and lower air intakes would be painted Fire Orange Metallic as they are in the GTS. The car would also have 19 inch wheels with black chrome exhaust tips.

For the interior the M3 tiger would be given black leather and contrasting orange stitching for upholstery work. The head rests and the door sills would have the Tiger Edition emblem in orange color.

For engine the M3 tiger edition would have the 4.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 which is also used across all the other M3 models. The engine develops 414 hp and 295 lb ft torque. For transmission there is going to be a six speed manual gearbox. There are chances that there may be the option of going for seven speed dual clutch transmission as well but that hasn’t been confirmed as yet.

A total of 250 units would be produced as per information and the price yet remains a secret. There are chances that in the next few weeks information about the car would be officially announced by BMW.
